Felt Book
(2006)
The book was made as an assessment piece for a City and Guild Machine Embroidery Certificate course. The pages are made from hand dyed and hand made felt. Each page is decorated with a floral embroidery made from cocoon strippings and wool tops, with embroidery and beads added for embellishment. The book also features a quote from the film "American Beauty".
(In the film "American Beauty", Lester on the verge of death delivers this monologue.)
"...it is hard to stay mad, when there is so much beauty in the world. Sometimes I feel like I'm seeing it all at once, and it's too much, my heart fills up like a balloon thats about to burst....And then I remember to relax, and try and stop holding on to it. And then it flows through me like rain and I can't feel anything but gratitude for every day of my stupid little life" ... Alan Ball(Screen writer)
Plastic Tote Bag

Sunflower Bowl
(2005)
The bowl was made of appliqued fabric on a vilene base, which was covered with heavy machine embroidery. The vilene was then cut into curved strips vertically, and curved plastic strips were woven through hem. A sun flower was appliqued in the centre. The bowl was made as part of an Embroiderers Guild challenge.
